Safety tips after a storm

Follow these tips to keep your family and your property safe after experiencing severe weather.
- ALWAYS follow warnings and signs about flooded roads.
- Do not drive in flooded areas. It does not take much water for a car to be swept away.
- Wash your hands with soap and water if you have been in contact with floodwater.
- Make sure to have an evacuation plan and share it with the whole family
- Stay away from doors and windows.
- DO NOT use a wet electrical device.
- Unplug appliances
- If the power is out, it is advised to use flashlights, not candles.
- Wait at least 30 minutes after hearing thunder before leaving your house or shelter
- Stay away from power lines
